Following the success of the Metis Loudspeaker, we were challenged by friends and customers to conceive of a speaker capable of delivering the Metis experience in small or medium listening rooms, and for installations that could not accommodate a large speaker footprint. The TriangleART team conducted extensive research and experimentation to develop the Selene Loudspeaker, a 2-way full-range floor standing masterpiece. We refined the best features of the big brother Metis. Again we used a horn-loaded design, and again we crafted it from solid walnut. The bass cabinet remains solid walnut, as well, using our proprietary damping and a specially developed vented, reflex loading design. We specified the highest quality Mundorf components for the crossover, and as with Metis, chose a fourth-order type (24 dB/Oct) to ensure safe operation with high-powered amplifiers.
For the drivers we selected a Beyma 2” wide-bandwidth compression driver for the horn and used a mid/lower 12” woofer by Beyma. This carefully selected combination of drivers and loading techniques results in a high-efficiency, ultra-wideband loudspeaker with exceptional transient response and clarity, unmatched by any other loudspeaker in its price range. And all within a tidy 14”x14” footprint. The Selene Loudspeaker delivers an incomparable listening experience. Accurate, lively, and musical with extraordinary dynamics. Music enthusiasts, rejoice!
